Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based, practical talking therapy that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It is interactive, structured, and collaborative — meaning we work together throughout the process.

CBT combines two core approaches:

  • Cognitive Therapy – Helps identify and challenge unhelpful or negative thought patterns.
  • Behavioural Therapy – Focuses on changing behaviours that reinforce those thoughts and emotions.

How is CBT Different?

Unlike some therapies that focus primarily on the past, CBT is solution-oriented and concentrates on the here and now. We acknowledge how your past experiences shape your current patterns, but the main goal is to equip you with tools and strategies to overcome present-day challenges.

CBT has been shown to be highly effective in treating:

  • Anxiety & panic
  • OCD
  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Health anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • Phobias (e.g., emetophobia)
  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Stress & burnout
  • Sleep issues
